Don’t Give Search Engine Optimization an Afterthought

Discussions on web site optimization has assumed a great peak during the recent days. Web site optimization or Search engine optimization has become a profession worth mentioning these days, but I have noticed most SEO professionals are not aware of what actually SEO starts off with. In today’s post I will be talking SEO at micro level. SEO starts right when you have decided to build your website. I am sure many of you guys will wonder what actually I meant to say by this! Yes… starts as soon as you start off building your website – I repeat. Web site optimization is the process of designing, developing your website with primary motive to serve your objective, using the real estate in the most effective ways, and then to load fast. Secondarily SEO is a process to generate traffic though all possible ethical techniques.
If you’re serious about your business, optimizing your web pages is what you need to think of alongside developing your business site itself. We design websites keeping the aspects of Search Engine optimization in mind. Website designers and developers should specifically develop the web pages to rank high in the search engines. Well, I think this actually involves much more than just what most SEO professionals tend to do… incorporating Meta tag attributes correctly and submitting in web directories and bringing in back links for the website. Correct website design is the prime most significant factor that moves a long way to pillar the efforts of Internet marketers.
A great deal of website traffic originates from the major search engines like Google, Yahoo, and now Bing is coming to play! Internet users tend to drop by the search engines and type in a a key phrase and look through top 10 results displayed, a few people go through the next 20 displays, while too few tend to look further beyond. Most people have tendencies to skip off the site if it takes long to load… thereby making the bounce rate soar high! This is where the role of designers and developers come to play!
The biggest mistake, that I have noticed is that most site owners tend to give Search engine Optimization an afterthought. The biggest design mistake made by Web designers and site owners is to treat search engine optimization (SEO) as an afterthought. SEO cannot be effective until it is considered to be the main component of the design process. Websites owners should bring in a Search specialist prior to the creation of the website, since he is the right person to guide the site architect, based on what actually the target audience search for. An experienced search engine optimization specialist can best carry out the perfect keyword research and determine the phrases that should be used as the website’s information, the navigation scheme, breadcrumbs links and cross links.
Properly balanced HTML-formatted graphics and text is another very important part of website optimization, which many SEO professionals tend to skip off. Striking a perfect balance between HTML-formatted graphics and text is the first step to perfect SEO. Designers must provide the client with graphic images over text, if the client prefers that. It is actually the search specialist who can better plan the distinctive ways to position keywords and phrases in the page so as to accommodate the wide range of visitor preferences.

Finally, again I repeat that your site should be designed and written using the words that your target audience would
type in to track you. An experienced search marketing professional has the mind of a searcher and hence he should be included in the team when you are preparing for designing a website.
